What Is Electrical Stimulation?

Electric stimulation is a chiropractic procedure that we offer at our Abu Dhabi office. This stimulation uses electrical impulses to send messages to the muscles, causing them to contract. These pulses can also be aimed at the nervous system to block the transmission of pain signals. This chiropractic treatment has been proven to:

  • • Help improve muscle control
  • • Help increase muscle tone and strength
  • • Help improve circulation
  • • Help repair tissues
  • • Help manage different types of pain

During a regular electrical stimulation session, our chiropractors will place electrodes on your skin. A mild electrical current is applied, which will cause a tingling sensation. These fast muscle contractions can help fatigued muscles to relax. In addition, it releases endorphins, which work as the body’s natural pain killers, to help relieve a variety of different pain.

At Chiropractic UAE, we use electrical stimulation to treat scoliosis, herniated discs, chronic back pain, neck pain, whiplash, migraines, and other conditions.

What Is Interferential Therapy?

Interferential therapy or IFT is a type of electrotherapy used to help manage different types of pain. During interferential therapy, two medium frequency currents of slightly different frequencies are used. The cross between the two frequencies creates an interference. This helps address deeper areas in the body that need treatment.

IFT can help with muscle contraction, promote healing from deep muscle injuries (especially from auto accidents), and reduce edema. The benefits of using this type of stimulation therapy are that it is non-invasive and has minimal side effects after using it. In addition, it works at a higher frequency, which means that the energy our chiropractor uses crosses the skin easily and with less stimulation. This is what makes IFT more beneficial than other low-level electrical stimulations.
